Speculation is mounting that Wednesday will see scientists working on CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC) announce that they have found the Higgs boson. This elusive particle, first predicted to exist almost 50 years ago is believed to give mass to all other particles and consequently proves the Standard Model, which is the dominant theory of how the universe works at the subatomic level.
